Musical BackgroundDebi Ramrath grew up influenced by her father's musical career as a violinist in the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and her mother's longstanding support in getting her to often far and distant piano lessons. She began taking piano lessons at age 5, studying with Martha Voisin, an accomplished pianist, and Leo Litwin, known for his Rhapsody in Blue with the Boston Pops. She was a pianist for her high school's musical productions. Debi continued to study piano privately while pursuing a career as a Registered Nurse, but her passion for music came to the foreground during her stay-at-home years raising young children, when Debi began writing children's songs in the Christian contemporary genre and playing for local nursing homes and community productions. From 2000-2005 she served as the music director for St. Anselm parish in Sudbury, and pursued Christian contemporary songwriting for her congregation and other local churches. In addition to Christian/inspirational music and hymns, Debi has also written and recorded in the folk rock, and pop genres. In 2005, Debi and others formed a band and has played out often for fundraisers, or at local venues. She is an associate member of NEPTA (New England Piano Teacher's Association), a member of MTNA, and has continued to study privately through the years. In 2018, she completed a certificate course through the Royal Conservatory of Music for teaching elementary piano.
Teaching Experience:Debi has always loved teaching and working with kids and has many years of experience. While raising her own three daughters, (now all young adults) she led a Children's choir, co-directed Christmas pageants, was a girl-scout leader, taught Relig. Education classes and Children's Liturgies. Debi began teaching piano in her home when her own children got older. It is one of her joys in life to pass on her love for music, combining knowledge of classical technique, theory, and pop/rock styles to give each student a well-rounded experience. Particularly good with children of all ages, Debi also enjoys teaching beginning adults who want to play for their own enjoyment.
